Fashion's Midas touch
What will the stars being wearing at next week's Emmys? Bronze, silver and gold.
Black made its return to the fashion runways for fall, in keeping with the season's new pared-down esthetic. But for fans of the Midas touch there remains plenty of glitter and flash in accessories and evening wear. Don't believe us? Just pick up this month's In Style magazine, which features enough guilty pleasures to set off a metal detector. Accessories with a metallic finish look great with the vintage-look fashions that are oh-so popular this fall, like the bronze leather evening clutch and strappy sandals pictured in the Trend Watch section of the magazine. And just a few pages away: a burnished gold leather jacket, paired with jeans, an orange silk cami and black motorcycle bag. To reflect fashion's more sombre mood, metallics have gone from gold to bronze and from silver to pewter. Leather has a worn texture, giving it a rougher look. So don't be afraid to go for the gold. Just turn it down a notch. - Layne Christensen
